Some of more than 4000 mussels that were retintroduced into the Clinch River in June 2005. The mussel reintroduction was the work of the Fish and Wildlife Service, Virginia Tech and Virginia’s Aquatic Wildlife Conservation Facility in Marion Virginia, and replaced some of the aquatic life that was killed in a 1998 chemical spill tanker accident in Cedar Bluff, Virginia.
