MOVING BISON TO SUMMER PASTURE. Grazing is an effective management tool that can benefit a variety of species when it is properly applied. It may also be used in wetland habitats to open choked vegetation and restore plant vigor. Even at refuges like Nebraska’s Fort Niobrara, where Service employees manage small herds of bison, grazing management is used to ensure that prairie ecosystems are restored and maintained.
