WOE96 Volunteers in training to map invasive plants at San Bernard NWR

Volunteers being trained to use hand-held computers with (GPS) Global Positioning System units to map invasive plants as part of the Collaborative Volunteer Invasives Monitoring Project being conducted on National Wildlife Refuges across the country. Volunteers are providing the much needed eyes-on-the-ground to assist refuge staff with early detection of new infestations as well as helping to map existing populations. Photo: August 11, 2004
