The first of the “Monthly Weather Review” Picture of the Month series, as published in January 1963. This first picture shows a series of actinoform clouds extending along the parallel 7 degrees South Latitude and between 87 and 97 West Longitude. This cloud type was not even suspected prior to TIROS photography.
