Station Bennett on a volcanic diatreme similar to Shiprock. The station was on the shoulder of the high sharp peak as the peak itself could only have been scaled with great difficulty. Bennett Peak was named for Frank Bennett, Indian agent for the Navajos, in the late 19th Century. Party of Lieutenant Jack Johnson.
