Sandy Hook Bar, New York Harbor entrance. Surveyed under the direction of Lt. Cmdg. Thomas R. Gedney, 1835. Hydrographic Survey H-53. This survey helped publicize survey efforts by finding a new channel. This channel made it easier and cheaper to enter and leave New York Harbor
