Plate 1-4 of 1921 cloud chart. 1. Cirrus becoming detached from thunderstorm top. 2. Dense, bunched cirrus, probably of thunderstorm origin. 3. Tufted cirrus, similar to (2) but thinner. 4. Cirro-stratus and fibrous alto-stratus such as originate from thunderstorm tops.
