The endangered pallid sturgeon are caught from the wild and taken to Natchitoches National Fish Hatchery in Louisiana for attempts at spawning and propagation of young for tagging and release at the adult capture site. This lateral view of the sturgeon head is used for anatomical comparisons and to document individual sturgeon. The number represents the fish’s PIT tag.
