Kenai River Red (Sockeye)

David Warnberg with a very nice fly rod caught red (sockeye) salmon taken on the Kenai River near the confluence of the Russian River. This is one of the most popular fisheries in Alaska. Although you can use a spinning or baitcasting rod, if you fish the Russian, the terminal tackle must be an artificial fly. Always check the Alaska regulations for hook size before fishing in any fly only area.
