HATCHERY BIOLOGIST. A biologist works in the laboratory at Craig Brook National Fish Hatchery, Maine. The 74 National Fish Hatcheries propagate and rear fish in captivity to maintain populations that cannot naturally reproduce, to rebuild depleted stocks, to recover endangered species, and to mitigate for the impacts of Federal water development projects such as dams.
