A biologist at Piedmont National Wildlife Refuge in Georgia prepares a truckload of fish for stocking. In 1996, the National Fish Hatchery system stocked over 160 million fish into the nation’s waters, supplementing wild populations which are stressed by habitat degradation, pollution, exotic species invasions, and overfishing.
