Digital terrain model of the MONITOR with 1/4 meter resolution. This image was derived from high-resolution multi-beam bathymetry. This is illustrative of the limitations of high-resolution vessel-mounted multi-beam sounding systems. The deeper the water for a given beam width, the lower the resolution as the beams spread out geometrically from the surface.
