The Copper River just up river of the "canyon." The river moves along quickly, somewhere around 11 miles per hour and is silt laden. A run of over 1 million sockeye (red) and thousands of king (chinook) salmon start up the river in late May. Dipnetters and subsistence fish wheels intercept a small portion of the runs.
