Chart 5101A - San Diego to Santa Rosa Island. First edition published in February 1939. This chart was a prototype chart developed for bathymetric navigation. Because the C&GS had developed radio acoustic ranging, it was able to accurately chart the continental shelf and slope. Development of LORAN in WW II made high-resolution bathymetric charts un-necessary.
