In the summer of 2006, a pair of bald eagles nested on the south side of Beluga Slough near the Islands and Ocean Visitor Center in Homer, Alaska. Thousands of visitors were able to watch the nest building and rearing of the young until fledging occurred in August. It also offered a valuable opportunity for environmental education concerning the needs of our national bird.
