Alaska salmon roundup - Purse seining is an important method of taking salmon in the deep, swift waters of Alaska. Salmon moving near the surface are surrounded with a wall of netting, which is supported by corks or floats. Lines are then drawn in the lower surface of the net to “purse” it into a baglike shape. The fish are then brailed out of the net.
