Alaska Islands & Ocean Visitor Center is your window to the largest seabird Refuge in the world – with all of the natural wonders of Kachemak Bay on the Kenai Peninsula right outside its doors. From sea stars to sea lions, this spectacular facility in Homer, Alaska depicts the amazing diversity of life found in Alaska’s island and ocean habitats. Stunning exhibits and films take you on a virtual tour of the 4.9 million acre Refuge, into a seabird colony, and on a visit to a “field camp’ to delve into the fascinating work of wildlife biologists. Ranger-guided walks, programs - slough, beach, marine discovery lab. The Visitor Center maintains a listing of area wildlife sightings and tours, as well as nature programs and heritage tours offered in Homer. The Alaska Natural History Association store carries a wide variety of gifts and books specializing in ocean and wildlife themes. The center is a partnership of the US Fish and Wildlife Service Alaska Maritime National Willife Refuge, and Kachemak Bay Research Reserve which is part of the Alaska Department of Fish and Game
