The Pribilof Report 1949. Nome, Alaska; "In the Nome Skin Sewer’s Coop. Store. In background and to the right is Emma Willoya who operates the store. She furnishes the raw materials to the Eskimo women and they return the finished products. This store is the clearing house for all the garments made by the Eskimo women. Emma Willoya trades all over Alaska for different types of seal skins. In this store are found many interesting types of wearing apparel such as raincoats made from the inner lining of seal stomachs. Mukluks, a type of boot, seen on floor in foreground and to the left. The large piece of skin being held by prospective buyers, right foreground, is from bearded seal and is fine for making waterproof bags."
