Air Force Dump, Amchitka Island

Rat Harbor. "Consolidated Army, Navy, Air Force dump, Amchitka Island, one of the aftermaths of war - rats introduced on a hitherto uninfested island and then this dump left with years of food for rats. This picture shows the well-beaten rat trails of a massive population of Norway rats. Rodenticide 1080 was used here with heavy kills but one year later populations had recovered."
