The marshes and woodlands of Agassiz National Wildlife Refuge occupy part of the area of a huge prehistoric glacial lake that was larger than the Great Lakes. The abundant wildlife here include the only gray wolf pack on a refuge outside of Alaska. One of the most beautiful features of the refuge is this aspen park. Elk and moose may be seen here, along with sandhill cranes, red foxes, porcupines, and woodcock.
