A tsunami time-travel map by Ferdinand Hochstetter published in Petermann’s Geographische for the Arica, Peru, earthquake ( 8.5 to 9.0 magnitude) of August 13, 1868. Tsunamis were observed throughout much of the Pacific Ocean for the next two days. Average depths along the travel lines are computed depths (method developed by Superintendent Bache of the USCS in 1855.)
